GOLF

Pair of Skyhawks compete at nationals

Dixon graduate Cole Ruckman and DeKalb grad Colton Guy represented Sauk Valley Community
College on Day 1 of the NJCAA Division II National Championship.

Ruckman fired a 9-over-par 81 at Swan Lake Resort’s Black Course in Plymouth, Indiana, shooting 41 on the front nine and 40 on the back and putting him in a tie for 107th place.

Guy is tied for 116th after shooting 83. He bounced back from a 44 on the front with a 39 on the back.

Polo Rehab to host moonlight outing

Polo Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is hosting a moonlight golf outing at Sunset Golf Course in Mt. Morris on June 8.

Tee time is at 5 p.m. The $50 fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, dinner, and one light-up ball for nighttime holes.

All proceeds benefit the resident enrichment fund. Please call 815-946-2203 if interested in playing or becoming a sponsor for the event.

TENNIS

Deadline approaching for free lessons at Westwood

The Sterling Park District is offering free youth tennis lessons.

SPD offers two sessions of lessons during the summer to ages 7-14. The lessons will take place at Westwood Sports Complex on the outdoor tennis courts. The first session runs June 4-7 from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., and the second session runs
July 29-August 1 from
9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

The registration deadline for the first session is Friday.

Sixty participants are admitted per session, with priority for residents of Sterling Township. There is a waiting list for non-residents. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and a goodie bag.
