A little Birdie tells us that Rock Falls High School students have been busy rehearsing their next play, and now they’re ready to take the stage for the drama department’s production of “Bye Bye, Birdie.” The play, set in the early 1960s, tells the story of rock star Conrad Birdie, who’s drafted into the military. His fans are devastated, especially struggling songwriter Albert Peterson, whose song Birdie was about to record. Peterson’s girlfriend, Rosie, pushes him to write a new tune that Birdie will perform on TV for the winner of a fan contest. The plan works, but no one counted on the teen winner’s jealous boyfriend. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday, in the school gym, 101 12th Ave. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for children and free for RFHS students with school ID.
