I am responding to the letter titled “Every life is precious ...”, which I agree with – when a baby is born it is very precious. I think every woman seeking a legal abortion considers her circumstances. The movie, "Unplanned", is put out by Right to Life groups and is full of the usual propaganda and misconceptions.
My problem with Betty Johnson’s letter is that Right to Lifers can be very cruel and even violent. I am not saying Ms. Johnson is violent, just misled, but the groups can be. They have killed providers and nurses who work for them. They harass women who have made their decision.
My opinion is that Right to Life groups and some religions have no respect for women. One in particular will accept their religious leaders abusing children, then stand up to against abortion. There is already a flood of abandoned children that are given up at birth or removed from abusive homes to overload the system, so tell me does “Unplanned” encourage adoption and raising taxes for food and family assistance? They want to cut taxes and slash food assistance while ending abortion, according to our president.
When I was much younger, I had an abortion because of health issues and it was not a violent procedure; the doctor and nurses were very kind. When it was over, I was sad but relieved.
In ending, the movie is full of lies. Abortion is a medical procedure and women have a right to choose. Trying to end a pregnancy in a back alley is violent. Do we want to continue to move backward with our backward-leaning president? I say no!
