One incumbent, one newcomer win Prophetstown City Council seats

PROPHETSTOWN – John Gibson and Danny Baker are the newly elected City Council members after voters cast their ballots Tuesday.

Gibson got 57 votes in winning his first term in the Ward 1 race, while Baker won his fourth consecutive term with 78 votes.

Brooks Soleta received 45 votes.

With six candidates vying for the two seats, the City Council race was spirited.

In Ward 1 alone, four people were vying. The other candidates were Ryan Bohms with 30 votes, Ryan McCowan with 32 and Sena Warkins with 49. All were seeking their first term on the council.

Baker said he will focus on the city’s need to build a new water treatment plant in the future and will work with the other council members to research all options to pay for it.
