Erie-native brings two iconic voices to life
Two iconic voices and song writers were brought to life at the Historic Dixon Theatre Saturday night when Nashville recording artist and Erie native Doug Allen Nash performed. Nash is a tribute artist and performed selections from Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond. He saw Cash at an airport during a USO tour in the early 1990s and took a chance and introduced himself to the singer. “I was a big fan, and he was very kind and gracious,” Nash said. The tribute show has been performed in 87 countries and at notable venues in Las Vegas and Hollywood. Bringing the show to Dixon was important for him. It gives him a chance to go back to the farm. The show included a performance of Nash’s original song “June” which has a connection to the Cash family. Johnny’s son John Carter Cash assisted with the original recording for the song.
