Antique treasures in Oregon

OREGON – The Oregon Woman’s Club’s 69th annual antique show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Blackhawk Center, 1101 W. Jefferson St.

More than 50 dealers from five states will sell antiques, furniture, glass,toys, primitives, clothing, jewelry, dolls, and for the first time, a fine arts dealer.

Appraisals, at $5 an item, will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $6, which is good for both days, and there will be concessions and door prizes.

Craft beer and wine-tasting

DIXON – Twin Cities Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting a beer and wine-tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Brandywine Banquet and Event Center, 441 state Route 2.

Local musician Bobbi White will perform.

Tickets cost $30; table sponsorships cost $300; patron sponsorships cost $100 and include two tickets, appetizers, 10 taste tickets for two guests and the business or individual's name in the program. Proceeds help fund scholarships.

Canterbury Singers

DIXON – The Canterbury Singers present an all-Renaissance program for Lent at 5 p.m. Sunday in the 1870s Gothic Revival church of St. Luke, 221 W. Third St.

The English-style Evensong will feature works by Tallis, Paletrina, and Smith. Ross Jallo is the organist and Tim Boles the conductor.

Admission is free; reservations are requested but not required.

Bands rockin' out at fundraiser

STERLING – Multiple bands, a live auction of celebrity items, a 50-50 raffle and food all will be part of a benefit Saturday for Heather Rahn, a Walnut woman with an aggressive form of MS.

The benefit begins at 1 p.m. at Starlight Theatre, 314 First Ave. The music begins at 2 p.m.; Chris Stevens, Brian Pankey, The Beaux, Magic By Gambit, and Cigar Box Skinny will perform.

Tickets cost $20 and include a lunch and dinner and the chance to win a door prize.

Numerous autographed items from celebrities, including a signed script for the series finale of "Newhart," signed by Bob Newhart, and hoodies signed by Tommy Chong ,will be sold at a live auction.

DIXON – Fourth Fridays Open Mic begins at 7 p.m. at Post House Community Center, 100 W. Second St.

Each musician or band performs four songs, and a jam session follows. Instruments are acoustic, a sound system is provided, and poets and short-story writers are welcome.
