100-year-old arch topic of Founder’s Day

Dixon's War Memorial Arch turns 100 this year, and its rich history will be celebrated during the annual Founder's Day presentation April 11.

DIXON – To mark the 100th birthday of the town’s most visible icon, this year’s April 11 Founders Day celebration will feature local historian Duane Paulsen sharing information on the arch, a memorial build to commemorate the return of soldiers from World War I.

Dixon Chamber of Commerce & Main Street and Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society will sponsor the free talk at the Northwest Territory Historic Center, 205 W. Fifth St.

Doors open at 6 and the presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.. Water and desserts will be available.
