JANESVILLE, IOWA — A Morrison teen was killed and a passenger injured in a car crash Friday afternoon in Bremer County, Iowa.
According to an Iowa State Patrol police report, Julia Walters,19, was driving her 2007 Ford Fusion about 3 p.m. Friday northbound on Highway 218 about 15 miles north of Waterloo, Iowa, when she lost control of the vehicle, it entered the median and rolled over.
She was transported by ambulance to Waverly Health Center where she was pronounced dead. Walters' passenger, Michaela Hibbard, 21, of Sterling, also was transported with unspecified injuries to Waverly Health Center and she has since been released, according to hospital officials.
Walters was a 2018 graduate of Morrison High School.
According to the police report, Walters was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. Hibbard was wearing her seatbelt, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation.
