FRANKLIN GROVE – Lila E. Hadaway, age 82, of Dixon, died Wednesday January 9, 2019 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 29, 1936 in Ogle County, IL, the daughter of Fred and Fern (Messner) Graehling. She had worked at Polo Continental Manor and then was the dietary manager at KSB Hospital from 1981 until her retirement in 2002. 

Lila was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon and a Hospice Volunteer. 

She had been a long time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and had raised her family in Polo.  

Lila thoroughly loved her children and grandchildren and especially loved her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping and playing the piano. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Evelyn Shippert and one great-granddaughter.

Lila is survived by her children, twins Diane Hinrichs Hawkins of Marion, IA, and Duane (Faye) Hadaway of Dixon, Jeff (Christina) Hadaway of St. Charles and Denise (Ray) Janssen of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, June Mades of Florida and Eileen Graehling of Dixon, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon with the Rev. Joseph O’Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Sterling. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Memorials have been established to Serenity Hospice & Home and to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
