Lawrence Raymond Miller, 18, of Rock Falls, is Rock Falls High School’s November Student of the Month. His parents are Alice and Kevin Miller.

Favorite class: Band, because I like to play my instrument, the clarinet, and I like to learn new songs for concerts and other activities.

Least-favorite class: Business web design. Even though I like the class, the students keep talking to each other, and I cannot keep focused on my work.

Favorite teacher: Miguel Vazquez, because he has a fun way of teaching math, and I like his math class.

School activities in which you participate: Band.

Civic, church, volunteer or activities in which you participate: I do presentations at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls on Sunday mornings.

How would you describe your group of friends? Smart and kind to people.

What will you do after high school? I will either get a job or go to Sauk Valley Community College.

What is something you learned in high school you think you’ll never use? I will never create a website in the future.

What kind of music are you listening to? I listen to classic rock music, and I also listen to WLLT on 94.3 FM when I am on a walk.

What’s one thing in your life you can’t do without? A computer. I need it to do school work, read, watch videos, and play games.

What is your advice for surviving high school? Pay attention in class and to do your schoolwork on time.

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be?   We have a new logo at our school, but the gym’s logo is not the same throughout the gym. I would change the old logo with the new logo to have a uniform look in the gym.

What scares you? I hate loud noises, because I jump really easily when I get scared.

If you could try any job for the day, what would it be? Computer technician. I want to help customers with their problems and try to fix the problems on their computers.

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? London. I want to see the country, landscape, people, television, and sports.

What is a good book you have read recently? “The Road Ahead” by Bill Gates. Gates goes over what the computer industry might be like in the future.

What is your proudest moment? Getting straight A’s on my report card.

Who is your hero/role model? Bill Gates, because I am a fan of Microsoft and like most of their products.

What do you think your life will be like 10 years from now? I think that I will have a job somewhere in the computer industry or a job in retail.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you? I am an avid user of technology, and I read about technology every day.

What is your life’s philosophy? Work hard, stay focused, and get your work done.
