Golden Warriors
head NIB-12 West all-conference team

Sterling seniors Weston Sisson and Isaiah Ryan were chosen as the Offensive MVP and Defensive MVP, respectively, in the Northern Illinois Big 12 West this past season.

Sisson was a first-team wide receiver, while Ryan was a first-team linebacker. The Golden Warriors had 12 first-teamers overall.

Rodriguez, Borum named conference co-MVPs

Sterling’s Lexi Rodriguez and Brook Borum were named co-MVPs of the Northern Illinois Big 12 West Conference.

They were joined on the first team by teammates Bree Borum and Josi Borum.

conference team

Eastland’s Gabby Snyder and Sage Walrath were first team NUIC West all-conference performers this past season.

Sterling’s Thormeyer headed to St. Xavier

Sterling senior Jordan Thormeyer announced
on Tuesday via Twitter
that she will continue her softball career at St. Xavier University.

Thormeyer led the Golden Warriors in batting average (.440) and on-base percentage (.505) last season, one in which Sterling went 29-3.

She also finished with a .670 slugging percentage, 24 RBIs and five home runs.

St. Xavier, located in Chicago, competes at the NAIA level in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Cougars were 29-17 last season.

Packers’ Rodgers donates to California fire recovery

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has announced that he will donate $1 million to help those affected by wildfires in his native California.

Rodgers also announced a donation from insurance company State Farm, and encouraged fans to donate to the North Valley Community Foundation.
