PROPHETSTOWN – Edward Henry Klausing, 85, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 13, 2018, at Unity Point Health in Rock Island.
Ed was born June 9, 1933, to George and Leona (Hagen) Klausing. He graduated from Joliet Township High School. Ed was united in marriage to Jean Jensen on Jan. 10, 1959, in New Lenox. Jean preceded him in death on March 28, 2005. He worked in the heating business until moving to their farm in Prophetstown in 1967. Ed always could be found busy mowing grass, gardening, heating his home with wood or corn, working on his old Jeeps or repairing anything. He was a hardworking man who loved his family; his dogs throughout the years, including Butch, Sam, Jake, Buddy and Jack; his 1954 Chevy pickup; reading the funnies and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Karen Richey, son, Dale Klausing, and one granddaughter, all of Prophetstown; sister, Sharen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bernadine, Kenneth, Elmer, Robert, Eileen and Dean; and son-in-law, Joseph Richey.
A memorial gathering will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, and a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Saturday at Leon United Methodist Church in Prophetstown. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Arrangements were completed by Gibson-Bode Funeral Home.
