I can't believe the Dixon Park District had people work all day, bring in a chipper, and clear an area for disc golf at Lowell Park.
That time could have been used to clean up fallen trees within the park. There are several areas that are looking shabby because cleanup has not been done.
With more traffic coming into the park for disc golf, there is something else that should be addressed. The speed limit should be slowed to 10 miles per hour. Something also needs to be done to make people more aware of one-way roads. This rule should apply to bicycles as well. Meeting cars coming up the hairpin is not a great experience.
I would like to say how amazing it was to raise money for disc golf. It's too bad money couldn't have been raised for newer playground equipment for the kids to play on instead.
I would like to leave with another definition of a park, from a quote by Ossian Cole Simonds: "A park is not necessarily a place for play, but rather to feed one's soul."
