HENNEPIN – A Standard man accused of killing a Bureau County teen in January, said Thursday in Putnam County Court that he is opting for a bench trial.
Richard A. Henderson, 26, is charged with three counts of murder in the death of 16-year-old Diamond Bradley of Spring Valley, whose body was found along a rural Putnam County road on Jan. 27.
His trial is set to begin Dec. 17, and is expected to last 3 or 4 days.
Public defender Roger Bolin represents Henderson, who was arrested Feb. 5 after interviews, surveillance footage, and cellphone data linked him to Bradley, who last was seen by her family on Jan. 23.
He faces 20 years to life in prison if convicted of stabbing her to death; he is being held on $1 million bond.
