DIXON – The Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street is surveying area residents, visitors and prospective community members to find out what's missing in Dixon.
The online survey is part of a market analysis the organization is conducting to gauge what people think are the top issues facing the city, what businesses or other places they visit the most, where they get their news, what types of businesses they would like to see added and what things they most want improved.
The survey contains about a dozen questions and asks whether the person lives in the area as well as age range and ZIP code.
The findings will be presented to the city and other businesses and organizations for a resource, such as identifying what days and times people shop most.
The questions include: "What three words come to mind when you think of Dixon?" "What type of products have you purchased on the Internet within the last 3 months?" "What three business types would you like to see added to Dixon's current business mix?" and "What three things would you suggest be improved in Dixon?"
Improvement choices include business mix, business hours, downtown, Interstate 88 commercial district, parks and green spaces, friendliness, infrastructure, entertainment options, festivals and special events, signage, public transportation, walkability/bike paths, civic facilities, parking, and restaurants.
It also asks what people think are the top three issues and lists choices of cleanliness, crime, poverty, lack of retail choices, infrastructure, amenities for kids/family friendly, lack of housing options, parking, traffic, and employment difficulties.
