Duchesses handle Hubs

Steamers lose to Orion; Clippers fall to Newark

The Dixon tennis team lost a total of two games in the four matches the Duchesses won in a 4-1 win over Rochelle on Monday at the Emma Hubbs Courts.

Riley Bally and Alexis Sneek both won singles matches 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, Allison Bay and Miriam Sohail won 6-1, 6-0 while Emma Russell and Emily Tribley won 6-0, 6-1.

Boys golf

Pecatonica 172, Polo 188: Pecatonica won by 16 strokes at Westlake Village behind a 36 from medalist Zach Stricker.

Polo got a 43 from Lane Hopkins and 47s from Hayden Bittinger and Logan Albrecht.

Oregon 190, Forreston 212: Jackson Buck and Adam Merrill each had 44s to lead the Hawks past the Cardinals at Silver Ridge.

Forreston’s Mavric Rudy was co-medalist with a 44.

Galena 176, Dakota 203, West Carroll 219: Jacob McLuckie led the Thunder with a 48 at Brush Creek in Orangeville.

The medalist was the Pirates’ Evan Kruse with a 6-over-par 42.

Girls golf

Hinckley-Big Rock 223, Rock Falls 236: Jessie Clevenger carded a 53 for the Rockets in a loss to the Royals at Indian Oaks in Shabbona.

The medalist was Hinckley-Big Rock’s Allison Ryan with a 15-over-par 51.


Orion def. Fulton 25-18, 25-15: Emily Schipper had eight kills and five digs, and Kylee Sweenie added eight assists for the Steamers in a home loss to the Chargers.

Sarah Jacobsen led Orion with 10 digs and nine kills.

Newark def. Amboy 25-12, 25-15: Shannon Lytle and Savannah Ikens each put down three kills for the Clippers in a home loss to the Norsemen.

Gabby Jones dished nine assists for Amboy.
