Hawks fall on tiebreaker; Dixon, Oregon soccer shut out

The Rock Falls boys golf team topped Rockford Lutheran 161-178 on Thursday at Rock River.

Grant Wasson’s 38 was a shot better than the 39 carded by Rockford Lutheran’s Andrew Gravino.

Kody Velazquez, Tyler Fauble and Jalen Bickett all shot 41s for the Rockets, with Brayden Schulz carding a 42.

Galena 162, Polo 196: The Marcos lost in Galena despite a 46 from Lane Hopkins and a 48 from Scott Prerost.

Galena’s Tyler Moran was the medalist with a 34.

Stillman Valley 193, Oregon 193: In a match in Oregon that came down to each team’s fifth golfer, Stillman Valley’s Tristan Lyons shot a 54 and Oregon’s Eddie Buttens shot a 58 to give the Cardinals the Big Northern win.

Adam Merrill led the Hawks with a 46. Jarrett Dietrich shot a 47.

Stockton 181, Aquin 201, Amboy 221: The Clippers took third in a triangular at Shady Oaks.

Clayton Kemp shot a 38 to lead Amboy. Lucas Warren shot a 56.

Erie-Prophetstown 183, Bureau Valley 191, Annawan-Weathersfield 230: Harrison Ames shot a 39 at Kewanee Dunes to lead the Panthers to an eight-stroke win over the Storm.

Dawson Haggard carded a 46 for Erie-Prophetstown, with Carson McCormick shooting a 49.

Trent DeVenney led Bureau Valley with a 41. Corbin Walsh shot a 43.


Leland-Earlville 4, Oregon 0: The Hawks were unable to get the nonconference win at Oregon Park West.

Rockford Christian 5, Dixon 0: The Dukes were shut out in a Big Northern match in Rockford.
