Election petitions available for Dixon mayor, City Council spots

DIXON – Election petitions for mayor and two City Council spots are available for the April 2 consolidated ballot.

People can now start gathering signatures for office, and the filing period for petitions will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 19-26 at City Hall, 121 W. Second St.

City Hall will be open until 5 p.m. on Nov. 26, and the office will be closed Nov. 22-23 for Thanksgiving.

The positions up for election are currently held by Mayor Li Arellano Jr. and Councilmen Mike Venier and Kevin Marx and are all for 4-year terms.

If more than three candidates file for mayor and more than five for each council seat, there will be a consolidated primary election Feb. 26.

Petitions can be found at discoverdixon.org/government/city-elections or at City Hall. Call 815-288-1485 for more information.
