Music, bags, food and more at annual event in Dixon

DIXON – Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street, the Dixon Police Charitable Association, and Honor Flight program will present the fifth annual Blues, Brews, BBQ & Bags for the Brave on Saturday along the riverfront.

A veterans parade will begin at noon and proceed along Hennepin Ave. to the west end of the Dixon Riverfront. About 40 veterans from World War II, and Korean and Vietnam wars who participated in previous Honor Flights will be represented.

Big band music from each of the three war era’s will follow.

The fifth annual Bags for the Brave tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m. Registration runs from 11 a.m. to noon; the cost is $40 per team. Prizes will be awarded. The Blues Brews BBQ will feature the Class Act II Big Band from Amboy, Lizzi Neal Band, The Downtown River Kings, and Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts. Gates open at noon.

Admission to the event is $5, but free for all veterans and kids 12 and younger.
