ROCK FALLS – The Civil Air Patrol Ground & Air Search and Rescue’s Illinois Wing Group 4 Emergency Services will be conducting search-and-rescue exercises from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in and around the Whiteside County Airport.
This is not a public event, but the CAP wants the public to be aware that three or four planes will be flying multiple sorties, and emergency responders and CAP members also will be working on the ground.
Exactly what the parameters of the “emergency” will be won’t be known to the participants until that morning, in keeping with the spirit of the readiness training.
The Civil Air Patrol is an all-volunteer auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. It conducts such training drills throughout the country, in coordination with local emergency responders to be prepared in the event of a critical incident, such as a tornado, or a missing person.
