Golf Roundup: Wasson's 39 paces Rockets

McCoy leads Duchesses; Thunder get past Bulldogs

Grant Wasson earned co-medalist honors with a 5-over-par 39 to lead the Rock Falls boys golf team to a 163-181 win against Oregon on Monday at Rock River Golf and Pool.

Kody Velazquez had a 40 for the Rockets, while Tyler Fauble and Jalen Bickett each had 42.

The Hawks’ Jackson Buck tied Wasson with a 39, and Adam Merrill added 44 for Oregon.

Stillman Valley 182, Dixon 218: Ethan Sherman was low for the Dukes with a 48 in a loss to the Cardinals at Lost Nation.

Stillman’s Tim Macum was the medalist with a 3-over-par 39.

West Carroll 197, Aquin 216: Deacon Hill’s 7-over-par 43 led the Thunder past the Bulldogs at Sandburr Run in Thomson.

Pecatonica 175, Amboy 200: Clayton Kemp shot a 41 and Gavin Gross added a 48, but it was not enough for the Clippers at Westlake Golf Course in Winnebago.

Pecatonica was led by medalist Luke McCartney, shooting a 39.

Girls golf

Rock Falls 222, Oregon 227: Madison Thatcher and Jessie Clevenger each had 54s for the Rockets in a win over the Hawks at Rock River Golf and Pool.

Oregon’s Lizzy Villareal was the medalist with a 50, one less than teammate Izzy Nelson.

Dixon 206, Stillman Valley 255: Charlotte McCoy was the medalist with a 45 and Bella Heintzelman added a 46 as the Duchesses opened their season with a win against the Cardinals at Lost Nation.
