DIXON – Majeski Motors is planning to open a car service center Sept. 1 at the former Weigle’s Transmission Specialists in Dixon.

Majeski is renovating the 12,000-square-foot space at 516 state Route 2 and will be offering a variety of services including tires, brakes, struts, shocks, oil changes, alignments and light mechanical work.

Owner Greg Majeski opened his used car dealership in 2005 in Sterling and then expanded to Dixon in 2016. Opening a service center allows the business to keep up with getting the vehicles ready to sell, and it gives people another option to get work done on their cars, he said.

“Since we opened in ‘05, we’ve seen incredible growth,” he said. “We sold 500 or 600 cars in 2013, and it was over 1,500 cars last year.”

The business, which has about 15 employees, plans to hire two mechanics to start and expand from there.

Plans include a waiting room and refreshments, a play area for children, loaner cars and 24-hour towing.

The hours are still being worked out but likely will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Former owners Dennis and Pamela Weigle, 64 and 62, ran the transmission and auto repair shop for more than 4 decades and decided to sell the business so they could move to San Tan Valley in Arizona for the warmer weather.
