Former Dixon resident Jacob Nelson returned to his old pedaling grounds Wednesday on his way to the East Coast.

Nelson, 31, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is biking across America to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.

He started his two-wheel trek across the U.S. on June 16 in Newport, Oregon, and plans to end his trip in Atlantic City, New Jersey, by the end of the month.

He arrived in Dixon on Wednesday, where he’ll spend some time before hitting the road again Friday.

A pair of public events were planned to welcome him back home. One was held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Tipsy's in Dixon, and another is planned for 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Porky's, 1315 E. River Road.
