For the first time in its 90-year history, the Illinois Association FFA will be led by an all-female team of officers.
The group, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, is holding its annual statewide convention in Springfield. The election was held Thursday morning.
The new officers are: president, Sophia Hortin, 18, of Fisher; vice president, Eliza Petry, 17, of Rochelle; reporter, Shaylee Clinton, 19, of Ina; secretary, Miriam Hoffman, 18, of Earlville; and treasurer, Taylor Hartke, 19, of Teutopolis.
Hortin is the seventh female statewide president, but this is the first all-female officer team, the group said.
