You talk about the Dixon Park District’s strained finances.
How is turning Lowell Park into a disc golf course going to help? Where is the money coming from for the holes, costing about $500 each, putting in concrete pads, and getting a pro to design it? More traffic will mean more wear and tear on the roads.
A lot of people enjoy walking down the roads in the park. Others just enjoy sitting and listening to nature and wildlife. More traffic could cause increased dangers for families out walking, as well as for the wildlife that call the park home.
You would spend at least $4,500 for nine holes of disc golf. It is a stupid idea. It seems to me you could get more revenue from a swimming pool because it would get more use.
The more than 200 people who want disc golf should form a cooperative and buy Timber Creek Golf Course.
Leave the park for family picnics and a great place to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
