One person hurt in two-vehicle crash
POLO – A Belvidere woman was injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash about 3 miles northwest of Polo.
A semi driven by Dale Schindler, 56, of Earlville, Iowa, was westbound on state Route 52 approaching the Freeport Road intersection about 7:50 a.m., when a Nissan Altima driven by Nicole Stamper, 19, of Belvidere pulled away from a stop sign on Freeport Road and into Schindler’s path, where her vehicle was struck in the passenger side by the semi, according to Ogle County sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies say Schindler had the right of way.
Stamper was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Mercyhealth Hospital in Rockford, where she remained in serious condition Sunday. She was cited for failure to yield.
