AMBOY – Winifred R. “Winnie” Stahr, 92, of Amboy, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Maple Crossing in Amboy.

She was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Geneseo, the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Sten) Quillin. With her husband, Winnie had owned and operated Arnie’s SuperValu in Amboy for many years before her retirement.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy, Amboy Flamettes, Shady Oaks Ladies Association, and the AMVETS Auxiliary. Winnie married Arnold R. Stahr on April 16, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Moline. He preceded her in death Sept. 14, 2002.

Survivors include her children, Nancy (Terry) Kelly of Amboy, Carol (Roger) Cassidy of Casa Grande, Arizona, Sara Jo (Bernard) Donovan of Walnut, and William (Masoudeh) Stahr of Santa Anna, California; seven grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Scudder, Jenny (Denny) Hicks, Matthew (Tina) Kelly, Nathan (Janel) Stahr, Paul Donovan, Layla Stahr, and Elliot Stahr; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her brother, James I. Quillin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Visitation also will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy, with the Rev. Barb Otten officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
