Clinton Symphony performance to feature area young artists

Clinton Symphony Orchestra’s annual concert, featuring solo performances by music students from area high schools, begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Morrison High School Auditorium, 643 Genesee Ave. William Hicks (bassoon) and Grace Rowland (flute), both of Clinton High School, will perform.

MORRISON – Clinton Symphony Orchestra’s annual concert, featuring solo performances by music students from area high schools, begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Morrison High School Auditorium, 643 Genesee Ave.

William Hicks (bassoon) and Grace Rowland (flute) are the student soloists. The overture to Mozart’s opera, “The Magic Flute,” and Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony will be performed.

Hicks is a senior at Clinton High School and has been chosen for the Iowa All-State Band for the past 2 years. Rowland is a sophomore at Clinton High School.

Auditions are held in January and open to all area high school musicians.

Admission is free for students and $15 for everyone else. Tickets are available at the door, at clintonsymphony.org; Fitzgerald Pharmacy, 124 E. Main St., Morrison; Grummert’s Hardware, 424 Locust St., Sterling; and Tegeler Music, 101 S. Second St., Clinton, Iowa.
