Fundraiser Saturday for vote yes campaign

AMBOY – Members of 272 KIDS are holding a benefit for their campaign for a new Amboy junior high Saturday at The Last Alarm “firehouse” Pub, 43 S. East Ave.

From from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., guest bartenders will donate all tips to the group. DJ Dylan Eisenberg will provide music and The Long Branch will prepare food. Specialty drinks will be available.

Members of 272 KIDS – the name stands for Knowledge, Infrastructure and Development for Students – is encouraging voters to approve a property tax increase on March 20 for $15.8 million in general obligation bonds to pay for an Amboy High School addition that would house a new junior high.

Taxpayers would pay an extra 86 cents per $100 of a home’s equalized assessed value, which comes to $235 more a year for a $100,000 home.
