Illinois Family Action is endorsing Republican businessman James Marter’s bid to unseat Rep. Adam Kinzinger in the 16th Congressional District race, it said in a news release.
Kinzinger’s voting record “has repeatedly disappointed IFA supporters,” the release said.
IFA, a nonprofit arm of Illinois Family Institute, “works to advance public policies to protect the sanctity of human life, Christian marriage and the natural family, and other initiatives which are consistent with principles of good government,” according to its website.
Marter, 55, of Oswego, also was endorsed by Walsh Freedom, former Congressman Joe Walsh’s organization.
Democratic candidates are Neill Mohammad from DeKalb, Sara Dady from Rockford, Beth Vercolio-Osmund from Ottawa, and Amy “Murri” Briel from Joliet.
The 16th District covers all of Lee, Ogle, Bureau, Boone, Grundy, Iroquois, LaSalle, Livingston, and Putnam counties, and parts of DeKalb, Ford, Stark, Will and Winnebago counties.
The primary is March 20.
