Tampico snowmobiler injured in collision with vehicle

ROCKFORD – A 19-year-old Tampico snowmobiler was in serious condition in the neurotrauma unit at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after colliding with a car Sunday afternoon on Jersey Road south of the Hennepin Feeder Canal south of town.

Madeline Lynn Tornow was northbound in a field west of the canal around 1:20 p.m. when she pulled onto Jersey and failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Todd E. Blosser, 29, of Tampico, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s department said in a
news release.

Blosser, who was eastbound, tried but was unable to avoid the snowmobile, the release said. No one in his vehicle was injured.

Tornow, daughter of Todd and Sandra Tornow of Tampico, was taken to CGH then airlifted to St. Anthony.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police are investigating.
