Polo tops Dakota in home finale

Duchesses drop makeup game against Rochelle on the road

Polo sent its seniors out on a high note on Senior Night and cruised to an 80-49 NUIC East win over Dakota.

The Marcos led 23-17 after one quarter and didn’t look back.

Reid Taylor led Polo with 28 points, including 13 points in a 29-point third quarter performance by the Marcos; he hit five 3-pointers om the game. Brady Webb also scored in double figures with 19 points.

AFC 63, Durand 45: The Raiders won an NUIC East home game against the Bulldogs.  

Pearl City 38, West Carroll 26: The Thunder didn’t score a field goal in the third quarter in an NUIC West home loss to the Wolves, who owned a 19-16 halftime lead. 

Jordan Anderson led the Thunder with seven points, including a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers. 

Lucas Peterson led the Wolves with 12 points. 

Eastland 54, Dwight 53: At the Riverton Shootout, the Cougars kicked off the central Illinois event and eked out the win against the Trojans. 

Girls basketball

Rochelle 54, Dixon 45: The Duchesses dropped their regular-season finale on the road to the Hubs in a makeup game. 

Rochelle led 17-8 after the first quarter, then the Hubs outscored the Duchesses 17-10 in the fourth quarter. 

Zoe Carr led Dixon with 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Britney Pitzer scored 12 points. 

Abby Lundquist led the Hubs with 18 points.
