Local Roundup: Balanced BV beats Tigers

Henze has 30 in Cougars win; Rock Falls downs ’Bago

A strong second quarter and balanced scoring helped Bureau Valley pull away for a 73-52 win over Princeton on Friday at Prouty Gym.

The Storm led 18-14 after one quarter, then outscored the Tigers 23-9 in the second.

Andrew Petros led the way with 18 points. Kale Barnett scored 15 points for the Storm, as did Tyler Gustafson. Corbin Endress added 12.

Riverdale 44, Fulton 42: The Steamers lost at Riverdale despite leading 33-27 heading into the final quarter, as the Rams scored 17 points in the fourth to pull out the win.

Tyler Bruggenwirth scored 16 for Fulton. Keegan Kloepping added 14.

Rockridge 39, Erie 30: The Cardinals fell at home to their TRAC West rivals.

Josh Hammer led Erie with 17 points.

The Cardinals led 13-6 after one quarter, but scored just four points in the second and four more in the third.

Girls basketball

Rock Falls 70, Winnebago 56: The Rockets made the most of their free throw attempts, hitting 30 of 40 in a road BNC win.

Molly Buck scored 22 points, shooting 6-for-6
from the free-throw line. Taylor Hoefler shot 8-for-9 on her free-throw attempts to finish with 18 points. Elise Moeller scored 12 points.

A 20-point second quarter helped Rock Falls pull away.

Stillman Valley 48, Oregon 39: The Hawks fell on the road in Big Northern Conference play despite a strong fourth quarter in which they scored 17 points.

Bailey Montavon had 10 points in the fourth
quarter to finish with 18. Jessica Hunt added six.

Dakota 74, Polo 30: The Marcos were unable to come away with a win in their regular-season finale at Dakota.
