I am writing in support of the upcoming Amboy School District March 20 general obligation bond [referendum].
It is time, after almost 100 years of using the existing Amboy Junior High as a learning center, to move on and give our students, teachers, parents and community a new, up-to-date learning center that will move us into the 21st century.
The importance of an up-to-date school building today cannot be understated. Our children are competing in a global world, and we as responsible community members must do everything in our power to give them the most ideal learning environment in which to grow and achieve.
When talking to local real estate agents about why new potential families move into Amboy, our schools are always right there at the top of the discussion. There is no doubt that we need to keep those high educational standards that society demands, and the best way to do this is through the passing of this bond.
It will cost me a little extra every day for the next 20 years, about the price of a coffee at a local gas station, but I am very much willing to spend every penny I have for our students and teachers.
