ROCK FALLS – A meet-and-greet with Deputy Mike Lewis, Republican Whiteside County Sheriff's candidate, will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Rock Falls Community Building, 601 W. 10th St.

Lewis, 46, of Rock Falls, is a 1990 graduate of Rock Falls High School, and worked for 3 years at the Lanark Police Department before joining the sheriff's department in late 2003, where he works on the jail floor. He also is a part-time Tampico police officer.

He is one of five candidates seeking to replace Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi, who is retiring.

Breakfast will be available by donation. Call 815-835-2948 for more information.

The others candidates are Democrat John Booker, 51, of Rock Falls, a lieutenant, with the sheriff's department, and Republicans sheriff's Sgt. Kris Schmidt, 46, of rural Morrison; former Rock Falls police Sgt. Tim Fisher, 47, of Rock Falls; and Clark Mortensen Jr., 47, of Erie, a police officer and firefighter for Quad City International Airport.
