Local Roundup: Dukes unbeaten in BNC

Rock Falls girls rout Stillman; BV edges Prophets

The Dixon wrestling team completed an undefeated Big Northern slate after defeating Genoa-Kingston 42-30 and Mendota 54-15 on the road in Mendota.

Bryce Christiansen (138 pounds) and Finn Brandon (220) had a pair of pins for the Dukes. Matthew Lohse (152) won an 11-5 decision against G-K and earned a pin against Mendota.

Jacob Quantrell (113) and Roman Kozak (120) also won via pin against the Cogs. Hakeem Banks (106) and Sebastian Quintana (160) took major decisions against G-K.

Isaac Rollinger won via pin at 132 pounds against the Trojans. Dixon received seven forfeits against Mendota.

Girls basketball

Rock Falls 70, Stillman Valley 28: The Rockets went on the road for a blowout victory over the Cardinals in Big Northern play.

All 10 Rockets who played in the game scored, led by Taylor Hoefler with 17 points. Molly Buck added nine.

The Rockets held the Cardinals to five points in the second quarter to take a 33-12 halftime lead.

Bureau Valley 39, Prophetstown 37: The Storm trailed 10-5 after the first quarter, 20-16 at the half and 31-29 after three, but surged ahead in the fourth for a TRAC East victory over the Prophets in Manlius.

Saige Barnett and Christen Hurley combined for 31 points. Barnett poured in a game-high 17, while Hurley added 14 for BV.

Courtney Pieceson paced Prophetstown with 14 points. The Prophets made 14 of 17 free throws.

Erie 39, Orion 38: Whitney Bramm hit a free throw with under 20 seconds remaining as the Cardinals edged the visiting Chargers.

Bramm led Erie with 15 points, Riley Redell drained four 3-pointers for 12 points, and Skyler Steimle added 10 points.

Danielle Taets led Orion with 13 points.

Stockton 61, Polo 30: The Marcos got 13 points from Alex Dusing, but fell in a home NUIC crossover game.

The Blackhawks led 21-6 after one quarter and 37-10 at halftime, cruising to the win.

Aspyn Stewart led Stockton with 20 points.

Boys basketball

Mercer County 82, Morrison 26: The Mustangs fell to the Golden Eagles in a non-conference road game.

Girls bowling

Dixon 2,961, Kewanee 2,406: The Duchesses cruised to a win over the Boilermakers at Dura Bowl in Kewanee.

Allison Bay led Dixon with a 578 series. She also rolled a 213 game. Alyssa Bonnette had a high game of 220 on her way to a 559 series.

Sarah Wyman led the Boilers with a 538 series.
