OHIO – Gary Massino, 73, of Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at his home.

Gary was born March 23, 1945, in Streator, the son of Frank and Sandrina (Carrera) Massino. He married Sally Kuehl on Aug. 13, 1966, in Toluca. Gary played basketball and baseball in high school, striking out 19 batters in seven innings against Peoria Manual High School. He played baseball for a minor league team in Champaign. Gary was an avid golfer in later years, having had two holes-in-one. He served his country in the Marine Corps Air Wing from 1966 to 1968, where he received a Meritorious Mast for flexibility and desire to excel under mounting responsibilities and difficulty.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Massino of Ohio; one son, Scott Massino of Ohio; four brothers, Chester (Yvonne) Massino of Toluca, Joseph (JoAnn) Massino of Hennepin, Lawrence (Sally) Massino of Villa Park, and Frank J. (Sarah) Massino of Morro Bay, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 24, with the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Jan 24 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio, with the Rev. Thomas Shaw officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Garland Funeral Home in Walnut handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
