STERLING – Miguel Herrera, 50, of Sterling, died Thursday Jan. 11, 2018, at Mercy Health Hospital in Rockford. He was employed by AZZ Galvanizing in Dixon as a quality control inspector.
He was born Sept. 19, 1967, in Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Antonio and Maria (Marquez) Herrera. He married Norma Martinez on April 2, 1992, in Sterling.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; his children, Annette Martinez of Rock Falls, Michael (Bianca) Herrera of Sterling, Adriana Herrera of Port Isabelle, Texas, Tatiana Herrera of Sterling, and Brayden Burgess of Sterling; his sisters, Luz Herrera and Sara (Ruben) Rodriguez, both of Sterling, Eloisa (Juan) Milan of Rochelle, and Maria Elena Herrera of Mexico; his brothers, Jose (Julia) Herrera of Rock Falls, Juan (Melanie) Herrera of Dixon, and Isidro Herrera of Sterling; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Adalberto Sanchez, celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
