GENESEO – Lucille L. Cathelyn, 91, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at her home.

Lucille was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Colona, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Sturtewagen) Lievens. She was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Cathelyn on June 5, 1948, at St. Mary Church in Hooppole. Lucille assisted Kenneth with farming in Loraine Township for 42 years. She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society Circle 11. Lucille was a talented seamstress, doing beautiful needlepoint work. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a very loving and caring wife and mother. She also was a wonderful cook and baker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Karen Cathelyn of Geneseo; grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie) Cathelyn of Carmel, Indiana, Laura (Greg) Steffensmeier of Des Moines, Iowa, and Lisa Cathelyn of Oakland, California; four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Hunter, Zachary, and Xavier; and her brothers, Richard (Betty) Lievens of Osco and Eugene (Evelyn) Lievens of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary; her daughter, Sharon Cathelyn; son, Vernon Cathelyn; and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Lievens.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture service at 3:45 p.m., at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson.

Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
