Schave headed for Sauk Valley

Milledgeville senior Cade Schave has announced he will play basketball at Sauk Valley Community College next season. He’ll sign with the Skyhawks on Friday.

Schave is averaging 15.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1 block per game this season for the Missiles. He averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds as a junior, and was a second team all-area selection.


White Sox deal for infielder Rondon

General manager Rick Hahn continued to shape the White Sox’s 40-man roster, acquiring minor-league infielder Jose Rondon from the Padres on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Rondon, 23, hit a combined .293 with 20 doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 49 RBIs and 44 runs scored last season between Double-A San Antonio, Triple-A El Paso, and the Arizona League last season. The Padres designated him for assignment Saturday.


Packers lose pair of executives to Browns

New Cleveland GM John Dorsey tapped into his NFL connections to improve the winless Browns, adding former Green Bay executives Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith on Wednesday in the club’s first major moves of the offseason.

Dorsey played linebacker for the Packers and spent time working in the club’s front office with Wolf and Highsmith, two highly regarded talent evaluators with solid reputations.


Ridley, Scarbrough headed to NFL

Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley will forgo his senior year and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

He finished his career with the Crimson Tide with 224 receptions for 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns. He is coming off a season in which he caught 63 passes for 967 yards and five touchdowns.

Junior running back Bo Scarbrough will also forgo his senior season in Tuscaloosa. The big, bruising back rushed for 812 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016, but saw his production dip to 596 yards and six touchdowns this year as he shared carries with Najee Harris and Damien Harris.
