Burglary investigation expands

STERLING – The investigation of one burglary has led to the discovery of loot from several others, say police, who have at least one suspect but are looking for more information.

Police were called to the 1600 block of 18th Avenue on Sunday morning, where a garage had been burglarized. They found other stolen items during the course of that investigation, likely taken Saturday and overnight into Sunday, according to a release.

Anyone whose vehicle or garages was broken into is asked to call Sterling Police at 815-632-6640 or the anonymous reward hotline, Whiteside County Crime Stoppers, at 815-624-7867, or to send a message to tipline@sterling-il.gov.
