Obituaries

Leona M. Moskop

WATERLOO – Leona M. Moskop, 97, of Waterloo, formerly of Dupo, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Red Bud Regional Hospital.

She was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Dupo. Leona was a clerk from the U.S. Postal Service in Dupo, retiring after 36 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo, Women’s Guild, a charter member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 6368 Dupo-Cahokia, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary 485 in Dupo. She especially enjoyed quilting, which she was able to do for many years, and she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.

Surviving are her daughter, Cathy (Robert) McDonald of Rock Falls; two grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) McDonald and Heather (Kevin) Wolford; four great-grandchildren, Logan McDonald, Olivia McDonald, Kaeli Wolford, and Brenden Wolford; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Moskop, who died Nov. 9, 1988; her parents, Charles and Katie, (née Wernicke) Koch; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, and from 10 to
11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Nancy Spier-Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Association.
