Delores A. Davis

MOUNT MORRIS – Delores A. Davis, 87, of Mount Morris, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

Delores was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred John and Lois Ethel (Linton) Shank. She graduated with the Class of 1948 from Mount Morris High School, Highland Community College in Freeport, and she attended real estate classes for her license. Delores married James Q. Davis Jr. on Nov. 20, 1948, in Mount Morris. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was secretary to Mr. Watt at Watt Publishing, she worked for Kable Printing, and for Jerry Griffin Agency, selling real estate. She was a member of Mount Morris Church of The Brethren, Mount Morris Ladies of the Moose, and Oregon Country Club, where she enjoyed playing bridge with the ladies. She had a love for music and theater, and she enjoyed singing and performing in the local theater group.

Delores is survived by her sons, Greg (Bobbie) Davis of Mount Morris and Stanley (Ann) Davis of Geneva; one grandson, James Gregory (Julie) Davis of Davis Junction; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emma Davis of Davis Junction.

Delores also was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard L. Shank.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 13, and the memorial service at 11 a.m. Jan. 13 at Mount Morris Church of The Brethren, with the Rev. Virginia Haney officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Plainview Cemetery in Mount Morris. Finch Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mount Morris Church of The Brethren.
