ROCK FALLS – Comcast has notified Sterling and Rock Falls of immediate work that must be done on the cities' cable systems because of damage done by the extreme cold temperatures.
Mayors Bill Wescott and Skip Lee were contacted by the company at about 3:25 p.m. Monday about the needed repairs. Work is scheduled to begin at midnight, and Comcast hopes to wrap things up by 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The repairs will result in isolated to widespread outages in both Sterling and Rock Falls. Comcast cable, Internet and Voice over Internet Protocol services will be affected. Those using VOIP services should have a cellphone available in case of an emergency.
Comcast will contact both cities if any other issues arise or the repair time frame changes.
