Comcast fights cold temps in Rock Falls, Sterling

ROCK FALLS – The deep freeze sent Comcast to work Monday.

Mayors Bill Wescott of Rock Falls and Skip Lee of Sterling said the bitter temperatures caused several areas of damage to Comcast cable, Internet, and Voice over Internet Protocol services in areas of both cities.

"We're not aware of any continuing outages. In fact, the city was not even without services. This was preemptive work being done during the night," Wescott said.

Comcast contacted both cities about 3:25 p.m. Monday with the news, with work scheduled to start at midnight. Repairs were expected to be finished by 6 a.m. today.

Wescott said he'd also heard from Lee that Comcast finished work about 6:50 a.m. today.
