ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce will offer three new educational and networking groups in the new year.
The first group, the Young Professionals Collective, met Oct. 19 for its inaugural event. Targeting young leaders in the community, the group was a big hit, so the chamber has decided to offer the additional collectives.
“We have had great success with our first group,” said Bethany Bland, Rock Falls Chamber president and CEO. “The response was simple but clear – this is what we needed and where can we sign up for more?”
Plans call for new groups focused on marketing, nonprofit organizations and home-based businesses. The collectives are part of the chamber’s initiative to provide more group programs to meet the needs of local businesses.
“The Rock Falls Chamber Collectives are organized in direct response to the needs presented by local businesses and our members,” Bland said.
The groups are meant to provide a fun and casual atmosphere for professional growth, networking and exchanging ideas. The meetings are organized around different discussion topics. For instance, the first Young Professionals meeting was built around a theme of struggles faced by young professionals.
“Our goal is to help every business become more successful, and learning and connecting are the keys to that success,” Bland said. “The collectives are a fun way to do both.”
Details of the new groups haven’t been nailed down yet. The chamber is surveying members via email to find out which group they find most interesting, preferred days and times to meet, and what groups they’d like to see added in the future.
The events are open to the public; chamber membership is not required.
