Plenty of Thanksgiving kindness shared

Dixon Knights of Columbus Council 690 would like to thank all those involved in making our eighth annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner such a success.

We served or delivered more than 650 meals on Thanksgiving Day.This event could not happen without the outpouring of support from the community. Businesses, individuals, and organizations all joined to help. Also, about 100 volunteers came to help serve the meal and made the work so much easier.

Our list of volunteers and donors include: American Legion Post 12, Dixon Township, Darlene Howard, Charles Oester, Mark and Janine Eykamp, Burt and Sandy Lorenzen, Bill Stover, Keith Adams, Charolette Fitzpatrick, Mark Jane Fenwick, Chico and Ruth Contreras, Avanti Foods, KSB Hospital, Farley’s Appliance, St. Mary School Leo Club, Sauk Computer Users Group, Dixon Gyro Club, Bill Burkhart Family Foundation, Father Boland Assembly 1702, Gregg Langan, Women of the Moose, Rich and Betty Kanzler, Bovey Plumbing, Dixon Glass, Venier Jewelry, Dixon Evening Lions, John and Nancy Varga, Lela Kraber, WIXN, BBY Chicken, County Market, Greg and Sue Vanmeter, Bob Gibler, Golden K Kiwanis, Mike and Abby Longtin, Dixon WalMart, Lee County Council on Aging, and the Elks Lodge.

The weather was beautiful, and caring and giving hearts could be felt all day long.

We are so lucky to be in such a giving community.

We hope to see you all again next year.
