Prep Roundup: Amboy cruises past Lions

Balanced BV beats Fillies; Dusing scores 31 in loss

Three Clippers scored in double figures as Amboy cruised to a 65-39 win over LaMoille at home on Monday.

Noelle Jones has 14 points and eight rebounds. Logan Winters had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Lachat added 10 points.

Lexi Loftus led LaMoille with 24 points.

Amboy led 13-8 after one quarter, then kept pulling away with 18 points each in the second and third quarters and 16 in the fourth.

AFC 48, Stillman Valley 39: The Raiders improved to 8-5 with a nonconference road win.

Jaynee Prestegaard had 18 points for AFC, while older sister Madeline had 16.

Bureau Valley 47, Morrison 29: Saige Barnett paced a balanced attack with 14 points as the Storm handled the Fillies in Manlius.

Christen Hurley finished with 11 points for BV, and Addison Moreland added 10.

Peyton Tegeler led Morrison with 11 points, and Claire Coons added nine.

Polo Tournament

Prophetstown 56, West Carroll 26: Courtney Pierceson had 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and five steals in the Prophets’ win.

Dena Johnson added 13 points and nine rebounds. Hannah McKinney had 10 points and six rebounds.

Prophetstown jumped out to a 13-4 lead after one quarter, and outscored West Carroll 16-5 in the third to pull away.

Maddie Meek led the Thunder with seven points.

Warren 59, Polo 52: Alex Dusing led the Marcos with 31 points, but the Warriors came away with the win.

Dusing’s outburst included going 13 of 19 from the free-throw line.

Warren led 19-7 after one quarter and 27-21 at halftime before pulling away for a 44-30 lead after three.

The Marcos scored 22 points in the fourth quarter, but the rally fell short.

Boys basketball

Sherrard 55, Morrison 36: Ben Brackemyer scored 18 points as the Mustangs fell in a TRAC West game on the road.

The Tigers jumped out to a 13-6 lead after one quarter, 26-22 at halftime and 38-32 after three before pulling away by outscoring Morrison 17-4 in the fourth.

Stillman Valley 59, Oregon 53: Trey Woolsey poured in 24 points for the Hawks in a loss to the Cardinals at the Forreston Holiday Tournament.

Dalton Hermes added 12 points for Oregon, which fell to 0-2 at Forreston.

Matthew Mandzen had 19 points to lead Stillman Valley, and Shaq Al Hourani added 18.

Girls bowling

Dixon 2,854, Moline 2,728: The Duchesses pulled out a nonconference win at Plum Hollow.

Melissa Bates had Dixon’s high series of 578 and a pair of 202 games. Allison Bay rolled a 507 series. Alyssa Bonnette recorded a series of 500.

Moline’s Destiny Rottman had a 610 series and two games of 214.
