Frank H. Guentert

OREGON – Frank H. Guentert, 92, formerly of Oregon, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.

He was born Jan. 6, 1925, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Genevieve (Schuler) Guentert. Frank worked as a typesetter for Ave Maria Press in South Bend and Kable Printing in Mount Morris. He later was employed at Etnyre Co. in Oregon. In Oregon, Frank was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he was certified to teach Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD), was a Eucharistic minister, involved in St. Vincent dePaul Society, and a member of Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran and member of the VFW and American Legion.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna (Ron) Miller of Dixon, Kathy (Roger) McLaughlin of Yorkville, and Gloria (Virgil) Humphrey of Beloit, Wisconsin; sons, Kenneth (Carole) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Timothy (Pam) of Byron; sister, Cecelia Loman of South Bend, Indiana; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; and later his wife, Melinda; son, Thomas; and grandchildren, Eric, Jackie, and Nicole.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m., with the rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, and the Christian Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 612 Highland Ave., Dixon. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Boys Town.
