DIXON – Ronelle D. Ferguson-Allen, 48, of Dixon, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, after a nearly yearlong battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 24, 1969, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Ronald and Mary (Ancelet) Allen. Upon completion of her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Western Illinois University, she worked as a clinician for Sinnissippi Centers in Dixon, and later was the clinical director at Nachusa Lutheran Home. She then owned and operated Alliances Counseling Services in Dixon and worked with Shining Star Children’s Center. She was a powerful advocate for children. Ronelle worked closely with local first responders when dealing with tragic incidents.

Ronelle married her partner of almost 19 years, Cathy Ferguson, on March 10, 2017, in Dixon.

She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, hiking, and kayaking, and riding her Harley Davidson. She was an avid reader and loved poetry. She was a longtime volunteer soccer coach for the YMCA, and was a player’s and parent’s favorite.

Survivors include her wife, Cathy; her son, Blake Ferguson-Allen of Dixon; her mother, Mary Ancelet of Quincy; her sister, Jessica Barton of Columbia, Missouri; her grandmother, Marge Bisby of Quincy; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces.

Ronelle was preceded in death by her father.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dixon Elks Club with Rachel Cocar, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dixon, officiating. A light lunch will follow. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established for her son.
